Charity Rugby Calendar Achieves World Coverage
The University of Liverpool Women’s Rugby League club caused a media frenzy recently when they released their charity naked calendar for sale. Their chosen charity -Joining Jack- has been heavily supported by AU clubs in recent years but the outstanding figure of £2000 that the girls have raised from this calendar has significantly increased this support. Joining Jack, a charity which aims to raise awareness and money to fight DMD (Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy) will use the funds to help support vital clinical trials that will hopefully bring the first treatment to help improve the lives of everyone living with Duchenne.
The tasteful photos, taken by Seb Castilho show the girls in a number of different poses at Wyncote sports ground, where they play their home games and various locations across Liverpool. Local media got wind of the calendars and a snowball effect happened with media sources in countries such as Thailand and Belgium picking up the story. Subsequently individuals from as far as Florida and Peru made orders for the calendar. This greatly contributed to the record sell out achieved. A massive well done to the girls for their bravery in getting their kits off and the obvious awareness they have managed to raise across the world for Joining Jack.
