Update to services and facilities on campus
In line with the latest easing of national restrictions in England, some of our on-campus services and facilities have now re-opened. Please remember, as guidelines change we will continue to assess our services and may make further updates. Full details will be available on each service webpage.
When using all of the on-campus facilities it’s important to adhere to the latest public health guidance to keep everyone safe. These include getting regular tests and wearing a face covering inside campus buildings, as well as outdoors on campus wherever maintaining a 2-metre distance may not be possible. The Sports & Fitness Centre and swimming pools will re-open from Monday, 12 April with limited capacities and pre-booking is required. Please note, all memberships will restart from this date.
We are opening all sports services with the same COVID Secure measures in place prior to lockdown, these include:
- Pre-booking for all activities
- Enhanced cleaning procedures, including double wipe policy
- Social distancing measures
- Limited activity numbers
- Wearing a face covering when moving around the facilities
- Regular use of the sanitising stations situated around the facilities
Greenbank Gym, Greenbank Playing Fields, Vine Court strength and conditioning facility and Wyncote Sports Grounds will all be re-opening in line with current restrictions.
We do not yet have Government approval to allow any indoor group classes or indoor sports to take place any earlier than 17 May 2021. We will keep you updated as we plan for these activities to re-start. However, our online class programme, which features over 25 virtual classes per week, will continue to run. Find out more here.
Liverpool Guild of Students
From Monday, 12 April the Courtyard will be re-opened for study space from 9am to 10pm weekdays. Spaces can be booked for individual study, face coverings must be worn at all times and bringing food or drink into the study area is prohibited. Non-bookable spaces are available on a first come first served basis. Book your study space here.
The Guild Garden has also re-opened, serving your Sphinx favourites, with an al fresco food and drink menu from 5pm weekdays. We will be operating a full table service and all food and drinks should be ordered via our app with card payment only. The Click and Collect Food service has also returned and you can pick up a Burrito or topped fries to go from 5pm weekdays. View the menu, book your table and order here.
Starbucks is also still open, including from 12 April an outdoor seating area, from 7am-5pm weekdays. Please note, entry is via a one-way system, using the entrance on Mount Pleasant, opposite the cathedral and at this time we are accepting card payments only.
Please note that our indoor bars remain closed but we are looking forward to reopening the Sphinx and Courtyard soon, in line with Government guidance.

Bookable study spaces in both the Harold Cohen and Sydney Jones libraries are available from 8am-11pm, 7 days a week. Additional campus study spaces are also available to book from 8.45am-5.15pm weekdays.
Printing services are available in both libraries. You must book a space in advance before visiting to use printing services. You can also use Print Anywhere to send your documents to print from your personal laptop or PC, even if you are off campus before you visit the library to reduce length of your visit.
The Click & Collect service continues to run with collection from the Sydney Jones Library only, 10am – 4pm weekdays, to provide access to copies that are not available online.
Staff and students can also request to reserve items held in the Sydney Jones Library for Library Use Only. This reference service allows users to visit the Library to consult material without having to take them away. You will also be required to book a space to use the materials within the Library.
Books can be returned to the Harold Cohen Library or to the Sydney Jones Library 7 days a week.
In addition, the Book and Copy Delivery Service is a means by which the Library will post books held in stock and copies of journal articles or book chapters directly to your home or work address.

The University’s Student Services team is here to offer you comprehensive support and welfare services. The teams offer advice, guidance, and information on a wide range of non-academic issues. Whatever help you need during your time at University, they are here for you.
The Alsop Building remains open for students to attend booked appointments for Student Services. These services also offer online support.
Many of our other student services are still operating online, this includes:
- IT support; a host of guides and how-to information is available in our portal, including advice on using Zoom and Microsoft Teams. If you can’t find the answer you are looking for, raise a support ticket or talk to one of our Service Desk staff on our live chat service.
- Virtual Careers Studio; allowing you to work virtually with Career Coaches on all aspects of planning your career, connecting with potential employers, and applying for jobs.
- Handshake; search for job opportunities and virtual careers events.
