I completed my ESRC funded PhD in Sociology and Social Policy at the University of Leeds in 2010. Using qualitative interviews and Photovoice, the thesis explored young refugee women’s narratives of ‘home’ in the context of their migration to the UK and transitions to adulthood. The findings have since been published in a monograph titled Inhabiting Borders, Routes Home: Youth, Gender, and Asylum (Routledge 2013). I have previously been a Research Fellow in the Social Policy Research Unit at the University of York and have held lectureships in Sociology at the University of Bradford and Keele University. I joined Liverpool as a Lecturer in Sociology in January 2018.
