Professor Barry Goldson conferred as Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences

The University of Liverpool’s Professor Barry Goldson was conferred as a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences (FAcSS), alongside 46 other leading contemporaries.
Professor Goldson, who also holds the Charles Booth Chair of Social Science in the University’s Department of Sociology, Social Policy and Criminology, said: “I am naturally delighted to have had my work recognised in this way and to have been welcomed to the Academy as a Fellow.
“I also feel very fortunate to be part of such a vibrant social science community at Liverpool, where I am surrounded by colleagues who are doing such excellent work.”
The new Fellows are academics, practitioners and policymakers from across the social sciences. They were recognised for the excellence and impact of their work through the use of social science for public benefit, following an extensive peer review process.
Chair of the Academy, Professor Roger Goodman FAcSS: said: “The outstanding contributions of each new Fellow are a testament to the breadth of the social sciences, both in their ability to inform policy for public benefit, as well as in addressing some of our most pressing societal issues.
“The range of expertise of our more than 1,100 eminent Fellows speaks to the Academy’s growing reach as the representative voice of the social science community as a whole.”
