Riccardo graduated in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Pisa in 2007 and obtained his PhD in Veterinary Science from the same university in 2011. From 2009 to 2010 he has been a junior clinician in veterinary oncology at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital of the University of Pisa. In 2010 he moved to the Veterinary Cancer Center of Sasso Marconi (Italy) prior to start his residency program in United Kingdom. From November 2010 to October 2013 he completed a residency in veterinary oncology at the University of Liverpool. In November 2013 he moved to Switzerland as Oberarzt (attending physician) in Veterinary Oncology and chief of the medical oncology service of the University of Zurich. In September 2015 Riccardo returned to the University of Liverpool as Lecturer in Small Animal Oncology. In August 2016 he was appointed Senior Lecturer in Small Animal Oncology. Riccardo is a RCVS and European recognised Specialist in Veterinary Oncology (Small Animals). He is author and co-author of scientific articles in international journals. He is a member of the European Society of Veterinary Oncology (ESVONC) and of the European Canine Lymphoma Network (ECLN).
Riccardo is interested in all aspects of clinical oncology, especially the treatment of canine lymphoma, haemangiosarcoma and neuroendocrine tumours.
Teaching veterinary oncology to undergraduates, and postgraduate interns and residents enrolled in the ECVIM-CA training program.
