Industrial Strategy team

The Industrial Strategy team coordinates the University of Liverpool’s approach to the Government’s Industrial Strategy, which aims to address some of the biggest challenges faced by society today by effecting scientific, economic and social change in the UK and globally. In order to achieve this goal, the Government has set up the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund (ISCF) for research and innovation.

Upon the announcement of the Industrial Strategy White Paper in late 2017, the University set up a dedicated team to inform and involve our academic community in the Industrial Strategy agenda and support collaboration with external partners, assisting any bids to access funding. The adaptable and accommodating team welcomes enquiries from companies and organisations looking to collaborate.

A steering group spanning multiple academic and professional services departments is overseeing the University’s Industrial Strategy approach and working to gather intelligence to enable strategic responses to opportunities.

An internal ISCF Pump Priming Fund has been established, and is aimed at academics whose work aligns with Industrial Strategy themes, to catalyse applications to future calls from the ISCF.

The team also supports research staff development initiatives such as the University's Making an Impact series, which in 2019 was inspired by the Strategy's foundations of productivity.
