Lee Carver obtained his degree in Physics from the University of Hertfordshire in 2010 before joining a PhD program with the University of Manchester. Lee's thesis was on the study of multi-harmonic rf cavities for single beam-line two beam CLIC-like accelerators and included studies into both beam dynamics and impedance considerations for their implementation.
He then went to CERN to begin his Fellowship working on collective effects for the LHC. This work included following the day-to-day running of the LHC and providing feedback and analysis to optimise the performance of the LHC with respect to transverse collective effects. During this time, he also developed software to quickly diagnose and understand the cause of operational beam instabilities in order to try and mitigate them.
Lee joined the QUASAR group in 2018 where he will be closely involved in the testing of the Crab Cavity prototype that has been installed in the SPS in view of their future usage as part of HL-LHC.
Lee Carver has now left the QUASAR Group.
