Background
Francesco studied Electronics Engineering at the University of Pisa and Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna (Pisa). He graduated with Bachelor's Degree in June 2015 (“DSP system for audio applications, particular discussion about realtime signal gain/volume control”, tutor Prof. S. Di Pascoli) and in November 2017 with Master Degree in Electronics Engineering (“Real time acquisition system for opto-acoustic distributed reflectometry”, tutor Prof. R. Roncella, Prof. F. Di Pasquale).
During his studies he collaborated with:
MMI s.r.l. (Calci, Pisa): designing of power driver modules for stepper motors used in robotics for medical applications;
Università del Salento, Dep. of Math and Physics: maintenance of the department telescope and studies about Robotic Controlled Observatories.
Furthermore he has carried on several personal initiatives in the domain of digital and analog electronics, computer programming and audio engineering.
He has acquired professional experience in: Analog and digital circuit design and simulation, FPGA programming, Signal processing, MCU firmware development, PCB design, production and soldering, computer software development.
In April 2017 he obtained a Technical Student position at the Beam Instrumentation department of CERN, under the supervision of Dr. Christos Zamantzas and Dr. Francesco Zappon, working on the mixed signal design of precision measurements instrumentation for the Beam Loss Monitoring system.
Francesco joined the QUASAR Group in June 2018 and is currently continuing his activity at CERN through a Cooperation Associate contract in the same group.
