Personal Statement

Vikki joined the University as a Project Officer working for two NIHR Health Protection Research Units: Gastrointestinal Infections; and Emerging and Zoonotic Infections in 2016. In 2019, she managed the Schwartz Rounds North project. Schwartz Rounds are a multidisciplinary forum for all staff working in healthcare settings to reflect together on the emotional impact of their work. The project enabled the running of Schwartz Rounds in nine Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) across the North of England. During this time she led a co-production team of students and staff, from across the North of England, to produce a short animation to explain 'What is a Schwartz Round?' to students. This is now a national resource that is being used by HEIs to promote Rounds to their students: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cw5LItLVmsA&t=3s This project has led to further funded projects including the Schwartz Rounds South project led by Professor Jill Maben at the University of Surrey. Vikki acts as a consultant on this project. In 2022, she won the Faculty's Learning, Teaching and Student Experience award for the Schwartz team's continued work throughout the pandemic.

Vikki is now the Programme Manager for the Infection Neuroscience Lab, led by Professor Benedict Michael. She manages the COVID-Clinical Neuroscience Study (£2.3m UKRI) COVID-CNS in partnership with the Project Manager at King's College London, as this is a collaborative project between the two universities. She also manages the WHO sponsored Global Brain Health Clinical Exchange Platform, which is a monthly one-hour interactive workshop on a topic related to brain health.
