About our research
Established in 1993, the Health & Community Care Unit (HaCCRU) is a group of social scientists engaged in high quality health services research and dissemination.
We have backgrounds in sociology, social policy, psychology and criminology. We apply theories and methods from these disciplines to understand health care processes and to improve health service delivery.
Researchers in HaCCRU have been commissioned by a range of agencies in government and the private and voluntary sectors to design, implement and disseminate independent research relevant to real-life problems and service delivery challenges.
We conduct primary research using qualitative and quantitative methods and undertake systematic reviews and evidence synthesis. as well as building research capacity in a range of health care professions.
