Dr Charlotte Krahé, Lecturer in Clinical Psychology in Primary Care and Mental Health, has been selected as an Award Lecture winner in 2022.

This award has been run by the British Science Association for over 30 years to promote open and informed discussion on issues involving science, and to actively encourage early career scientists to explore the social aspects of their research; winners of this award are recognised as being at the cutting edge of their respective fields.

Charlotte is the Award Lecture winner in the category Agricultural, Medical and Biological Sciences and will give a lecture entitled: “Loving touch and soothing words: How others shape our pain”.

As a winner, Charlotte will now present her work at the annual British Science Festival in Leicester from Tuesday 13th to Saturday 17th September 2022, hosted by De Montfort University.

Charlotte says, “I am delighted to win this Award Lecture and look forward to sharing fascinating research into “social placebo effects”, uncovering how psychology and neuroscience can provide a deeper insight into how we perceive and can alleviate pain.”
