Dementia Health and Social Care Inequalities
The Dementia Health and Social Care Inequalities research group was set up and is led by Dr Giebel and focuses on identifying and addressing inequalities in health and social care for people with dementia and their unpaid carers.
We are using mixed methods approaches, and all of our research is strongly underpinned by patient and public involvement and engagement. The group meets monthly for journal clubs and has wider quarterly team meetings to discuss progress on all funded research.

The North West Coast Living Lab in Ageing & Dementia
An innovative model of linking research with 8 social care provider organisations in ageing and dementia to build research capacity in the adult social care workforce and to co-develop grant applications
The Dementia Inequalities Game and The Dementia Explorer
Two board games designed with dementia stakeholders which are implemented across Universities, care homes, NHS, and public sector (police force, fire department) and now primary school children, improving knowledge about dementia.
The Liverpool Dementia & Ageing Research Forum
A public community of practice running since 2019, engaging diverse stakeholders in dementia and ageing via regional meetings, webinars, and an annual conference. The Forum is a core feature of the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration North West Coast Social Care Theme
