Professor Sally Sheard BA PhD

Sally Sheard teaches on a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses on the history of medicine and health, both in the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences and in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. She supervises postgraduate research students on nineteenth and twentieth century British health history. Recently completed projects include 'The development of intensive care medicine in the UK since 1952'; 'Medical care for Far East Prisoners of War, 1939-1945'; 'Troubled Families: Discourse, Policy, and Intervention in the North West Since 1939';'Infanticide and child murder committed by men in the Victorian period in London, Manchester and Liverpool'; ‘"A race of patent medicine invalids": the consumers of patent medicine, c.1890-1948'; 'Medical networks in Liverpool since 1930'.
