    Personal Statement

    BACKGROUND:

    * I conduct health services research and am part of the Health Systems Research and Analysis resarch group.

    * My research interests are in identifying the psychological and social difficulties of those with neurological conditions and their families, exploring the causes of these problems and translating these findings into high-quality care through the development and testing of interventions.

    * To do this, I use quantitative, qualitative and health economic methods. I am also interested in the methodology of trials. The main conditions that I conduct research into are: epilepsy, stroke, headache and cauda equina syndrome.

    * I am an active member of the faculty wide Liverpool Epilepsy Research Group.

    * My main collaborators are based at King's College London, Bangor University, the University of Sheffield.

    * Key NHS partners are the Walton Centre, The North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust and the The Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust.

    EXTERNAL ACTIVITY/ APPOINTMENTS:

    * 2022-present, Honorary vice president of Epilepsy Action (British Epilepsy Association)

    * Represented discipline on Scientific Advisory Committee of Epilepsy Research UK.

    * Invited to serve on UK’s NIHR (HS&DR) funding panel as mixed-methods specialist.

    * Invited to serve on UK's NIHR (RfPB) funding panel as mixed-methods specialist.

    * Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (PR094986)

    * Serving member of International League Against Epilepsy (1362)
