Dr Bindman joined the Department of Politics at the University of Liverpool in September 2017. Prior to her current appointment she was a Leverhulme Early Career Fellow at Queen Mary, University of London and Lecturer in Politics at the University of Manchester. She completed her PhD in Russian and EU Politics at the University of Glasgow in 2013 and has held visiting fellowships at the Aleksanteri Institute, University of Helsinki and at NYU. Her research interests include policymaking processes in electoral authoritarian regimes, welfare reform, social policy and social rights in Russia and other post-Soviet states. Her current research aims to explore the changing nature of social service delivery in contemporary Russia, focusing on the role played by non-state actors as service providers. Her book ‘Social Rights in Russia: From Imperfect Past to Uncertain Future’ was published by Routledge in October 2017.
