Motive

Raise awareness of sex trafficking and celebrate this woman's key work to save girls from sex slavery. She set up the Fundación María de los Ángeles in October 2007 to help survivors, receive complaints and offer counselling to families. They give free legal, psychological and social support.

Context

Trimarco has survived 2 murder attempts and has led 10 search to find her missing daughter María de los Ángeles Verón who was kidnapped in Tucuman in 2002 and forced into prostitution in La Rioja. Trimarco dressed up as a prostitute and went in search of her daughter in bars, got phone numbers of people she suspected were involved in trafficking. June 2002 she set up meeting with female trafficker and gained access to safe house where 12 girls were being held hostage before being sold for $900 each. October 20002 she and 3 Chilean journalists went undercover and men tried to kill them, but through these efforts she found and rescued trafficked girls. She has personally rescued 150 trafficked girls, some as young as 12yrs.
