About the event

Studies in voting in the EU Referendum have examined the effects of class, education and age on voting patterns. There has been less attention, however, on the effects of race and ethnicity on voting behaviour among ethnic minority but also white voters (some exceptions including Martin et al., 2019). This paper will use a mixed-methods approach to present ethnic identity effects on supporting Leave or Remain amongst white and ethnic minority voters in the 2016 EU Referendum.

Dr Neema Begum is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Centre on the Dynamics of Ethnicity, University of Manchester, researching ethnic minority political attitudes and representation.
