Training today's and tomorrow's physiotherapists

From first degree to CPD…

The Directorate of Physiotherapy is the focus for Physiotherapy education and training at the University of Liverpool.

We provide undergraduate, postgraduate and CPD courses for Physiotherapists at every stage of their careers. Programmes incorporate the latest research and best evidence-based practice.

Run by qualified physiotherapists, the directorate has close links with the region’s NHS community. Various trusts host and help train our students and contribute to curriculum design.

This not only creates valuable placement opportunities for our students, but also ensures we teach the skills employers want.

Students here are treated as individuals. We keep our class sizes small, at 12 - 15 students for practical work and 8 - 10 for small group work, so there’s plenty of quality time with tutors.

Multi-professional learning

We're part of the , which teaches five subjects: medical imaging and radiotherapy, orthoptics, occupational therapy, nursing and physiotherapy.

Certain course modules are taught jointly, so students from the different fields can work together, as they will in the workplace.

Based on the University of Liverpool’s city centre campus, the School is part of a wider community that makes Liverpool one of the most important Health & life Science centres in the UK.
