Young Scholar Award for Philosophy PhD student

Philosophy PhD student Xiaoyan Hu has received the Young Scholar Award from the International Association for Aesthetics. This is for her paper ‘Beyond Representation: Reconsidering Loehr's Periodisation of Chinese Painting’ presented to the 20th International Congress of Aesthetics in Seoul in July 2016. Xiaoyan is in the second year of her research programme. Her project title is ‘On the Relationship Between Art and Nature: The Notion of “Qi-Yun” (Spirit Consonance) in Chinese Aesthetics and its Comparison with Western Ideas’.
