The Department of Philosophy is seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Legal Philosophy.

You will undertake a comprehensive philosophical study of entrapment that defines (both civil and legal) entrapment, clarifies whether (and, if so, under what circumstances) it is permissible, and explains its normative implications for practical ethics and criminal justice.

You must hold a Ph.D. in a relevant area of law (e.g., criminal law, evidence and proof, jurisprudence, human rights law, covert and/or proactive methods of law-enforcement) and be familiar with philosophical approaches to the study of law.

Any applicants who are still awaiting their PhD to be awarded should be aware that if successful, they will be appointed at grade 6, spine point 30.  Upon written confirmation that they have been successful in being awarded their PhD, they will be moved onto grade 7, spine point 31 from the date of their award.

This post is fixed term and is available from 25th September 2023 – 24th September 2026.
