The First Great Philosophy Scavenger Hunt

Scavenger hunt

Who was the first female professor of Philosophy at the University of Liverpool? Pusillanimity is a deficiency that belongs to which sphere of action or feeling? What was Wittgenstein doing with a poker? What is the “reflective equilibrium” in moral theory?

Congratulations to new students Amelie Clarke, Patrick Cunningham, D’Janaé Hall and Nanako McGurk, winners of the department’s inaugural philosophy scavenger hunt! Teams spent three hours racing around the campus -- from the library, to careers, to student support and back to the department -- collecting books, stars and prizes.

Here’s the team (above) with our head of department, Michael Hauskeller, who designed the hunt, and (below) later on enjoying their prize!
