Women In Parenthesis

This September the Department of Philosophy welcomed Dr Rachael Wiseman onto the team, and with her came an exciting research project on women philosophers.

A collaboration between Dr Clare MacCumhaill and Dr Rachael Wiseman, In Parenthesis explores “the contribution of a remarkable group of philosophers who met as young women at Oxford University during World War II”. These philosophers were Iris Murdoch, Elizabeth Anscombe, Philippa Foot, and Mary Midgley.

The comprehensive website hosts resources for teachers and students, an audio-visual library, and an invitation to establish your own In Parenthesis reading group using the Twitter hashtag #InParenthesisRG.
