The LDC Development Team are committed to providing a programme of personal and professional development for all Postgraduate Researchers at The University of Liverpool. Therefore, we ask you to contribute to the smooth running and fairness of the programme by adhering to the following booking policy.
To book a place onto one of our events, please consult the LDC Development Programme programme timetable webpage and click the link on the event title to register your place through Eventbrite.
Places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. If an event is fully booked, you will be placed on a waiting list. Please use your University of Liverpool email to register on Eventbrite. We reserve the right to remove registrations of attendees who do not appear to be members of this University.
Following your booking:
- Add the date and time of each event you book into your diary and inform your supervisor. This will help you meet commitments as part of your training agreement and ensure you avoid arranging conflicting meetings on that date.
- We will email you further event information, including the location, no later than 8 days before the event takes place, followed by a short reminder email before the event.
- We provide a sandwich lunch at our full day events, which will include a standard vegetarian option. If you have specific dietary requirements, please inform us at least 5 days before the workshop and we will endeavour to meet these requirements (subject to consultation with the University Catering team).
On the day of the event:
For webinars: half an hour before the start time, you will receive an email with a link to join the webinar, which include instructions on logging in and advice to maintain a reliable connection.
For workshops: Please arrive punctually at the start of each workshop. In certain circumstances, we may be able to accept late arrivals, but only if you inform us in advance. Please do not turn up to courses unless you have received a relevant booking confirmation.
Cancellation of Booking
All workshops have a limited number of places – if you book a place and do not attend, this may prevent another researcher from taking up that place.
We ask that you do not book on an event unless you are certain that you can attend. When you book on one of our workshops or courses, we treat your booking seriously and prepare accordingly. This includes the preparation of workshop materials and administration, such as setting up reminder emails, pre-workshop information and ordering catering. Therefore, we ask that you provide at least five days’ notice if you are unable to attend. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org and cancel you place on Eventbrite.
By following this policy, you will help ensure that another researcher has the opportunity to take your place and we avoid resource wastage. We hope all researchers will want to help us run this programme efficiently. We appreciate that many of our attendees have no problem with these arrangements.
We understand that there may be exceptional instances where you are unable to give us five days’ notice, such as urgent personal/home issues. In those circumstances, please notify LDC Development Team by emailing email@example.com, as soon as possible.
However, where researchers persistently cancel attendance at short notice, we may restrict their attendance at future workshops to ensure equality of opportunity for all researchers. We may also inform their supervisor and department as appropriate.
Please note that making bookings and not turning up on the day prevents others from attending. We maintain attendance registers for all our events and non-attendance is monitored. Many of our workshops are extremely popular and are fully booked well in advance and we also manage waiting lists.
To be fair to all researchers who want to attend our workshops, and to meet University expectations, we will need to enforce an attendance policy. Where Postgraduate researchers consistently fail to attend workshops on which they are booked, or repeatedly cancel bookings with very short notice, we will restrict their attendance at future workshops. We may also inform their supervisor and department as appropriate.
If your non-attendance is due to exceptional circumstances, including bereavement, illness or, emergencies in your work, please notify us by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org as soon possible.
