Selina qualified as a physiotherapist in 2000 from the University of West England. In 2000 Selina had the opportunity to take a secondment in pain management at the Walton centre Liverpool and from here began to specialise in chronic pain and undertook a Msc in chronic pain at the university of Cardiff in 2003. Since then her interest and passion for supporting the management of chronic pain has grown and she has enjoyed the opportunity to work within pain clinics and also as part of the pain management programme team. She has a particular interest in the management of chronic pelvic pain, CRPS, neuropathic pain and research to support the management of chronic pain. She had the opportunity to be involved in several publications, and attend various research related events linked to the pain research institute which allowed her interest in research to be further cultivated.  In 2016 she was successfully awarded a Research for patient benefit grant to conduct a randomised control trail examining low frequency stimulation for chronic pain and was also supported by the pain research institute to undertake a PhD in the same area. This was the start of Selina’s academic career she is now been recently appointed to a clinical fellowship position at the university of Liverpool which has been supported by The pain research institute. This post will allows Selina to retain her clinical skills and caseload as pain specialist physiotherapist at the Walton centre pain management department whilst providing the opportunity to gain further research experience.  Within this position Selina would like to explore the future clinical utility of low frequency nerve stimulation to support patients with neuropathic pain, understand and gain skills in research methods that consider complex interventions and behavioural change whilst collaborating on other research projects in her areas of special interest.
