Our Orthoptics Degree course

Build a brighter looking future

The University of Liverpool offers one of only two Orthoptics degree courses in the UK. We combine up-to-the-minute teaching with quality practical placements that give you a flying start to a rewarding career.

You'll be taught by internationally known experts who are passionate about research and skilled at bringing their teaching to life. We keep class sizes small so you'll get truly personalised tuition in friendly, well-equipped surroundings.

The curriculum covers all of the key Orthoptic specialisms, as well as human physiology, neurology and disease, patient care and how to use the latest equipment and technology.

Clinical experience is a vital part of the programme. You'll undertake six 4-week placements within our network of host organisations, experiencing various healthcare settings and patient groups.

We organise these placements for you and work with our hosts to make sure the professionals supervising you are fully trained and briefed to do so.

By the time you graduate you'll be a fully trained Orthoptist who's skilled in the latest techniques, has solid clinical experience and is authorised to practise right away
