Professor Dame Sue Ion to discuss the future of the nuclear industry

Professor Dame Sue Ion, President of the Royal Academy of Engineering, will deliver the inaugural lecture in the 2015 Science and Society series with her talk; Engineering Challenges for Nuclear Industry: Should public be concerned?.
Professor Ion is Chair of the European Atomic Energy Community (Euratom) Science & Technology Committee and is an expert advisor on the nuclear power industry. During her time as technical director for British Nuclear Fuel Ltd (BNFL), she was credited with persuading Prime Minister Tony Blair to change Labour's official government's policy on nuclear power.
In 2014, Professor Ion became the first woman to be awarded one of the Royal Academy of Engineering’s most prestigious accolades – the President’s Medal – for her outstanding service to the nuclear industry, and to the wider world of engineering.
