RHS Level 2

The RHS Level 2 Certificate in the Principles and Practices of Horticulture is studied both by interested gardeners who wish to learn more and those wanting a route to employment in professional horticulture or further development.

The Level 2 Certificate in the Principles and Practices of Horticulture consists of two individual certificates, one practical and one theory:

  • RHS Certificate in Practical Horticulture
  • RHS Principles of Plant Growth and Development

Both certificates are offered at Ness in one combined course, enabling students to understand the underlying scientific principles which underpin horticultural practices and develop their practical skills.

Students will study a range of topics from plant identification, soils and propagation through to planting styles and plant care. The qualification is assessed through practical and written assessments set by the RHS.
