Introduction to Garden Design

This short course will cover the exciting opportunities and challenges involved in the process; supporting you to develop your creative skills and learn to maximise the potential of your garden using planting and design. The course is taught through talks; demonstrations and a range of activities both in the classroom and out in the gardens (weather permitting). Please come dressed in suitable clothing for the weather (i.e. waterproof jackets and wear suitable shoes). Also bring a pen and some paper or your preferred method of taking notes.
Week 1 - Where to start and understanding your garden.
Week 2 - Basic site surveys and drawing plans.
Week 3 - The importance of garden layouts
Week 4 - The role of hard landscaping
Week 5 - Plant types and their uses.
Week 6 - Creating planting plans
Week 7 - Styles & themes.
Week 8 - Styles & themes.
Week 9 - Styles & themes.
Week 10 - Implementing your plan

The course starts on Thursday 5th March. 10 weekly sessions 9.30-12noon. (No teaching Thursday 9th and Thursday 16th April).
18 Years +. There are no formal entry requirements; all you need is an interest in plants. No previous experience needed.
