Ness Gardens in winter

January

Enjoy the stunning barks of the trees especially our birches. You can also see plenty of colourful berries which can be enjoyed until the birds get them as well as a host of spectacular seed heads which adorn many of the grassy beds.  Be sure to take in the fabulous views across to North Wales, with your vista sprinkled with spots of colour. Two species to look out for at this time are the Camellias and the first clumps of Snowdrops which both add a warmth to the gardens at this time of year.

One of the more intriguing and vibrant species which offers a surprising beam of colour in what is often thought of as a bleak period, is Witch Hazel. This species can be seen in the picure above this text. You can find several specimens dotted around Ness, some of which pepper the rock garden and a vivd yellow example is on show in the Pine Woods.
