Personal Statement

Dr Monica Esslin-Peard graduated from the University of Oxford with a BA and MA in Literae Humaniores. After a long career in broadcasting, international consultancy and training she entered the teaching profession, spending seven years as a Head of Department in Secondary Music education. Monica's lifelong activities as a performer led to her decision to conduct post-graduate research into reflective practice and performance, resulting in the award of PhD from the University of Liverpool in 2017.
Monica is now teaching undergraduate and masters modules for the Department of Music and continuing her research into reflective practice, musical learning and cross-cultural influences with Chinese students.
