About the event

In this short, Farewell Concert, Anne Demougin, Choral Director and Vocal Tutor at the University of Liverpool since 2013, directs the Staff Choir in their favourite medleys and the University Chamber Choir in songs themed around ‘The Night, The Moon and the Stars’.

The evening will consist of two performances one from the Staff Choir and another from the Chamber Choir, each performing an array of music. The programme for the Staff Choir will be called 'Our Favourtie Medleys' followed by the Chamber Choir who will be performing a programme titled 'The Night, The Moon and The Stars'.

Anne Demougin is certainly a true world citizen, having lived and worked in 5 countries. She was born in Montreal Canada where she began her musical career and from then travelled to the Big Apple to do a Masters Degree in Voice performance at the World Famous Juilliard School of Music. She has sung Opera in Toronto and Vancouver and sung concerts all over North America and Europe. She has been at the Department of Music as Choral Director and Voice teacher for the past 6 years. Now she heads off to Germany where she will continue her career in voice teaching and Choral conducting. She will sorely miss the students and staff at the University of Liverpool but remember the time with fondness.

The Staff Choir has been enjoying music making for the past few years under the direction of Anne Demougin. They have regularly performed for the Lunchtime Concert Series on campus as well as for various official events in and around Liverpool including fundraisers, flash mobs and cultural occasions among others. They have sung a variety of music from Handel to Bohemian Rhapsody, Pop to Jazz. It is with great pleasure that they will present a series of "Medleys" from some of the best known Musicals, the Beatles to Jamaican folk songs. They must say good bye to Anne in June but will hopefully continue the tradition under a new director in the future.

The Chamber Choir comprises the best voices from all over campus. The undergrad and graduate students are a talented group of young voices who will tackle the most challenging repertoire.

They have had the priviledge of singing in prestigious venues such as St. Georges Hall this past Christmas. the have repeatedly sung for events organised by our VC Janet Beer as well as various events in and around Liverpool. Tonight they will perform an evening of "The Night, the Moon and the Stars" with a wide variety of genres ranging from Cole Porter's "Night and Day" to Elgar's "Nimrod".

Sit back and enjoy this wonderful choral performance.
