Teaching and Learning
Some people study history because they like to know stuff. For me, history is about asking questions. In my research I have always looked for new questions, and in my teaching I aim to remind students of the pleasures of curiosity. I'm fortunate to be able to teach the things I am interested in: modern German social history, European colonialism and black studies, the Holocaust, gender history, the global 18th century. And in all my modules students work with primary sources to devise their own questions and do their own research.
