Personal Statement

Eve Hayes de Kalaf is a research associate in Iberian and Latin American Studies based at the Department of Modern Languages and Cultures. She obtained a distinction in a PGDip in Human Development in 2010 and later completed a Master’s degree at the Institute for the Study of the Americas, University of London. In 2018, Eve completed her PhD at the University of Aberdeen while teaching on courses in Sociology, Social Policy, Politics and International Relations at the School of Social and Political Science, University of Edinburgh. Eve is particularly interested in how states are documenting and identifying populations and the impact of social policy practices on questions of race, citizenship and belonging.

Eve is the Institute of Latin American Studies (ILAS) Visiting Stipendiary Fellow 2020-2021 based at Senate House, University of London. You can learn more about her research here.
