MBChB Programmes

As part of the School's senior management team, I share overarching responsibility for the quality of Liverpool's flagship MBChB programme. I contribute to innovation and delivery in the programme in a number of spheres, supporting the MBChB Programme Director and team in generating exciting new initiatives in undergraduate medical education. My main responsibilities include:

- Oversight of the strategic development of assessment, particularly focusing on the successful introduction of sequential testing methodologies throughout high stakes performance testing. Other work in this field includes supporting assessment quality and reporting, development of workplace assessment and the meaningful use of technology to support assessment innovation. In parallel, I am leading a group within the School focusing on the provision of high quality feedback to students, under my overall research banner of assessment 'personalisation'.

- Strategic support for a number of key senior staff who work across student wellbeing, professionalism, admissions and assessment

- Oversight of the growth of the School's intercalated provision, both within the School of Medicine and through Liverpool's exciting cross-faculty programmes.

International relationships and post-graduate education provision

I am pleased to support an incredible team who are developing a series of new initiatives in Professional Education/CPD provision and credit bearing, taught awards. Current activity focuses on expansion of our highly successful Masters outputs and growth of Professional Education short courses to support the 'modern professional learner' in busy health related workplaces - focusing on the current and future challenges in healthcare provision and technology.

Spanning both MBChB, Postgraduate and scholarship activities, I also focus on the development of international partnerships - with a collegiate view to the development of contextualised, high quality education experiences for both Liverpool students and those of our partners.

I undertake a range of national and international advisory and consultancy roles, spanning assessment and curricula design and innovation and support/mentorship for senior Faculty. Institutions I have worked with recently include:

Brighton & Sussex Medical School
Imperial College, London
Royal College of Radiologists
General Medical Council

Karolinska Institut, Sweden
International Medical University, Malaysia
School of Medicine, University of Kuwait/Kuwait Institute of Medical Specialities
LKC School of Medicine, Singapore
Armed Forces College of Medicine, Egypt

I also undertake more focused assessment advisory roles, including working with a number of medical schools in the UK, Middle East, SE Asia and Australia
