Research

Research Overview

I have three primary research interests: (1) adult and student mental health, (2) learning and academic performance, and (3) clinical communication. I have published articles in all three of these areas. I am also interested in the interaction between these areas, for example how test anxiety can impact test and academic performance.

Student mental health

Chris is interested in student mental health and is currently investigating test anxiety in undergraduate students.

Clinical communication

Chris is interested in clinical communication within a medical educational context. In particular, Chris is currently investigating psychological beliefs and processes associated with effective clinical communication.

Metacognitive theory

Chris principally draws upon the Self-Regulatory Executive Function (S-REF) or metacognitive model (see Wells, 2009 for more) as the theoretical basis for his work.
