IMA HE Teaching and Learning Series: Developing an undergraduate mathematics curriculum which is fit for purpose – challenges and opportunities

This workshop was supported by the IMA and was attended by over fifty participants from twenty-one different institutions across the UK and Ireland.

External speakers:

  • Dr Pamela Docherty (University of Edinburgh)
  • Dr David Bedford (Keele University)
  • Dr Amir Asghari (Liverpool John Moores University)

The speakers discussed a range of interesting ideas and successfully-trialled initiatives. Specific topics covered in the sessions included the development of a skills strand within a mathematics curriculum, building a community of learners in mathematics, and the design of innovative and authentic assessments in mathematics.

The event also highlighted current MathsCEE enhancement projects including XJTLU link activities, technology enhanced learning, transition interventions, employability initiatives and distance learning/CPD provision.
