What were you doing before you began MSc study?
I studied psychology for my undergraduate at Manchester Metropolitan University, after which I took some time off and worked in retail before continuing my studies.
Why did you choose to study at the University of Liverpool Management School?
The management school has an incredible reputation and students from the management school have gone on to do great things. Additionally, I’ve heard amazing things about Liverpool as a student city and it’s only a 45-minute train journey from home in Manchester which also helped my decision.
Did you receive a scholarship?
Yes, I have received the ULMS Future Leaders scholarship award.
Which aspects of the MSc course do you think will be most beneficial to your career development?
Every module is tailored to ensure you are learning relevant knowledge and developing key skills that will benefit your future career. There is also a strong emphasis on practicalities of future working life so the course prepares you well for whatever you choose to pursue in the future.
Have you received help and advice from the School’s MSc Careers Advisor?
I definitely have taken advantage of the Management School’s careers support. It has proved extremely useful – from casual chats regarding enhancing your CV to interactive workshop sessions to prepare you for many company’s lengthy application processes.
Will you be undertaking a placement as part of your programme?
I am not undertaking an official placement or internship however I am currently taking part in the management schools “we can work it out” consultancy challenge. This is a really great experience which allows students to work with top consultancy firms and employers to come up with solutions to their challenges as well as develop great teamwork skills by working alongside other students from the different MSc programmes.
What have you enjoyed most about living in Liverpool?
Liverpool is a really vibrant city with lots of diversity. There are lots of international students and everyone is extremely friendly. I’ve definitely enjoyed exploring the city and as I have a part-time job in town alongside my studies I have definitely experienced the friendly local culture of Liverpool.
