Olawunmi is the Director & Head of Pharmacovigilance Quality at Seqirus.
Why did you decide to study an MBA?
My current role as the Head of Pharmacovigilance Quality afforded me extensive international business, allowing me to demonstrate flexible management skills, challenged me to progress my team and business, and facilitate the development of partnerships across the pharmaceutical industry. However, I was also aware that there were more personal benefits that I could gain from studying for an MBA, such as acquiring new skills and viewpoints, progressing my career, and setting fresh challenges & objectives for myself.
Why did you choose the Management School?
The University of Liverpool is an exemplary university that holds a very special value with the company I work for, Seqirus. Many colleagues that I work with graduated from the University of Liverpool and spoke highly of their experiences. The university also ranked highly on The Economist, Which MBA? global ranking among other highly rated university and had both the AACSB and EQUIS accreditations. I knew that studying an MBA at the University of Liverpool would give my degree a more global focal point as I refocused my career and gained a deeper knowledge of supply chain, global economic trends and policies.
What have you learnt from guest speakers so far?
The speakers have all provided useful insights into their paths to their own successes. They have provided many helpful high-quality presentations/lectures on a wide range of subjects - mainly soft-skills. The speakers have all being passionate presenters, who speak with energy and knowledge, and their enthusiasm has been infectious.
What skills and knowledge do you feel you have developed?
Already more than I can remember to mention. The module on Leadership, Management, and Organisation especially stands out for me, I learnt/refined skills that I have immediately applied to my work, both for myself and my team, relating to influencing, operating in a matrix and shaping the strategy.
What aspects of the programme have you enjoyed most?
Every aspect has been enjoyable as the whole experience is new and ever-challenging.
What impact has receiving a scholarship had on you?
Receiving this scholarship has lessened the impact of tuition costs on me, helping me to continue to pursue my educational and career aspirations. There's also a feel-good factor of knowing that the university is investing in my career as a worthy cause.
