About

Personal Statement

I joined ULMS as a Professor of Human Resource Management and Organisational Behaviour in February 2017. My research and supervision interests include: knowledge work; HRM/IHRM; changing work and career dynamics; diversity and inclusion; the employment relationship and comparative employment systems. I am currently working on projects focusing on HR ecosystems, hybrid/blended working and work-life balance.

Before joining Liverpool, I worked at Birmingham Business School (Lecturer to Reader), where I was Head of the Organisation, Work and Employment Department (2013-16). Prior to this, I held postdoctoral research positions at Manchester Business School, where I was a member of the Europe Work and Employment Research Centre (EWERC). This involved being a member of the ‘Expert Group on Gender Social Inclusion and Employment’ and working on the ‘Dynamics of National Employment Models’ project (EU 6th Framework).

I am a Senior Fellow of the HE Academy, a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), a member of the Academy of Management, and the British Sociological Association. I am a co-author of the sixth and seventh editions of HRM at Work, an Editor for Work, Employment and Society and an AE for The International Journal of Human Resource Management. I am also an editorial board member of Human Relations and Human Resource Management.
