Personal Statement

I am the Grant Writer for the Strategy, International Business and Entrepreneurship Research Group in the University of Liverpool Management School. I have extensive experience in research development and support roles, overseeing the submission of quality bids for research funding in a range of disciplines and to a range of funders. I offer advice and training on the research funding landscape in the UK and internationally, funders and calls, and positioning and tailoring project ideas appropriately. I support the development of research project ideas from conception to submission, including adviing on costing and writing. I have a particular interest in supporting researchers in early career phases and at other career transition points.

I have am an experienced researcher and research manager who has worked on multinational European Union-funded projects, evaluations of European mobility schemes and the internationalisation of UK higher education institutions. My PhD, on international researcher mobiity in the context of the UK's higher education sector, built upon many years professional and academic experience: I studied International Education (PG Dip) and Comparative Education (MA) in Australia and the UK; and I taught English as a Foreign Language in Australia, Asia and the Middle East, specialising in academic language and skills in university contexts.

I am a trustee of https://www.knowledge4change.org/Knowledge for Change, a charity which for over 10 years has been working across multiple hospitals and health centres in Uganda to sustainably improve the health system and achieve better standards of care for patients.
