Abhinav Goyal is Senior Lecturer of Corporate Finance at the Management School, University of Liverpool, UK. Abhinav received his Ph.D. in corporate finance from University College Dublin, Ireland in 2013 and his postgraduate degree in Financial Risk Management from Simon Fraser University, Canada in 2007. Abhinav’s primary research interests include dividends and payout policy, privatization, corporate governance in emerging markets, internal capital markets, IPOs and financing and capital budgeting issues. His current projects include the study of the determinants of payout policy, the concept of internal capital markets i.e. dividends as a source of investment among financially distressed group-firms, improvement in operating performance of state-owned enterprises post-privatization, and different characteristics of IPO firm underpricing and survival in long-run. His work has been presented at more than 40 academic seminars and conferences worldwide, including Reserve Bank of India and De Nederlandsche Bank. His study on IPO and Media Coverage received the Best Paper Award at Annual Asian Finance Association Meeting. His recent research has published in finance and accounting journals like Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Journal of Econometrics, Accounting Horizons, The Financial Review, Quantitative Finance, and Journal of Financial Stability among others.
