Programmes

We offer taught Masters-level programmes in the business of sports, football and horseracing.

Football Industries MBA

The Football Industries MBA (FIMBA) is the original, and still the only, Football Industries MBA. As an MBA programme, it has the real business focus that management positions in modern sports demand.

Since its inception in 1997, the networks of relationships, global alumni, and senior-level practitioners in football and sport have helped us to develop excellence in this sector.

Sports Business and Management MSc

The MSc Sports Business and Management offers students a Masters level understanding of the global business of sport; its organisations, stakeholders and the disciplines which make it operate successfully, with a business focus on the challenges and opportunities within the international sports business.

Online: MSc Sports Business and Management

The online MSc Sports Business and Management provides a flexible study option for those working in, or aspiring to work in, the sports industry and who need to combine study with the rest of their busy lives.

Our collaborative, state-of-the-art learning platform enables you to participate in online modules with fellow students from across the globe. You will be able to explore interactive study materials, catch up on discussions with classmates and read around your topic with our comprehensive library of ebooks and journals.

The programme is designed to develop the attributes needed to step up into managerial roles, grow your own sports businesses or thrive within an existing one. Modules cover a wide range of business and management disciplines, all taught within the sport context. You will develop the ability to critically analyse the issues that face sports organisations within the dynamic sport business environment to enable you to make evidence-based decisions. You will also be encouraged to develop as a reflective leader who can make a key contribution to enabling sustainable sports organisations. You will gather insight from the University of Liverpool’s network of experts based in football, horse racing, cricket, rugby and community sport, amongst many others. The programme culminates in either a self-managed work-based project, to address a challenge within your organisation, or a research project focusing on the future of a specific aspect of the sports industry.

Many of our alumni have now reached positions of seniority in the global sports business sector, including across all continents and in leading clubs and governing bodies across a broad spectrum of sports.
