Financial Support

Industrial sponsorship

Many members of the academic staff have established research grants and contracts with industrial firms and government departments through collaboration in research over a number of years. Sponsorship for students who wish to gain higher degrees by research is sometimes available from some of these bodies.

Postgraduate Student Awards

For all postgraduate research students there are a number of scholarship schemes available through the University. Most scholarships are awarded on the basis of merit rather than hardship and competition is fierce. For further information about the University of Liverpool scholarships and other external sources of funding, please refer to the Postgraduate funding tool.

Home and EU Students

Fees-only awards are sometimes available for EU Nationals who have been ordinarily resident in the European Economic Area for the preceding three years. Further information on possible Economic and Social Research Council studentships is available.
