Second year BA Accounting and Finance students, as well as a team of MSc Accounting students from the London campus, competed at the inter-universities audit competition on Monday 8th April.

The competition required students to undertake a review of the internal control system of Sheridan AV, a medium sized company looking to list on the London Investment Market.  They presented their findings to a judging panel which consisted of representatives from RSM - an International Professional Services firm.  The Management School’s BA Accounting and Finance team came second out of ten teams.

After the competition, RSM also ran an assessed group exercise which allowed students to develop their team working skills by working alongside participants from other UK universities.  There session also presented an opportunity to develop presentation and networking skills.

Helen Scott, Director of Studies for the BA Accounting and Finance programme, said “This was a fantastic opportunity for our students to meet students from other universities and to apply some of the things they have been learning in lectures.

I was really proud of our students as they presented in front of senior professionals from RSM and did a brilliant job. They all demonstrated excellent communication skills, business understanding and commercial awareness.”
