Running to make a Difference

On Sunday 4th May, fifteen members of the Management School took park in the Liverpool Spring 10k.

The team, a mixed group of Academics and Professional Services staff, ran to raise funds for the Clatterbridge Cancer Charity, which supports the leading cancer treatment for people in our area. The charity funds a range of vital research, equipment and support services that would otherwise be unavailable.

Team ULMS included: Rachael Lucas, Luc Bostock, Lynne Crook, Viv Moss, Nicola Wood, Sue Whelan, Supriya Garikipati, Kieran Maguire, Joanne Meehan, Julia Hodgson and Lisa Anderson (not pictured).

The race itself was a looping 10k course (6.2 miles) in and around Sefton Park. All those who ran finished with good times, particularly Luc Bostock, who was running a 10k race for the first time and finished in 42 minutes 11 seconds, coming 148th in an overall field of over 2600.

The team has raised over £1200 in donations so far. Rachael Lucas, Student Experience Team Leader, said: 'We’re genuinely amazed by the amount we have raised, we had set a target of £500 so the outcome is terrific! We are all keen to run as Team ULMS again next year!'
