The University of Liverpool’s Management School is now expanding to accept new applications for its 12 week, 90% Government funded Help to Grow programme - aimed at senior management and small and medium-sized business owners - after the initial offering of places were snapped up.

But there are only ten new spots available on the course, so interested applicants are encouraged to lodge their details as soon as possible, ahead of the October 15 start date.

Accredited by the Small Business Charter, Help to Grow is a 12-week practical programme covering all aspects of management, including finance and strategies for growth and innovation.

The course also offers businesses one-to-one mentorship, and participants will finish the course with a tailored business growth plan, as well as access to an extensive alumni programme and network.

Robert Blackburn, Professor of Entrepreneurship at the Management School, said: “Small firms face many challenges when seeking to develop and improve their performance and this has been particularly so in the past 18 months.

“Having shown their resilience during this period, now is the time for business owner-managers to join a carefully developed programme that will help them to work on their business to take it to the next level.”

The 12-week programme, which combines online sessions with face-to-face learning, is 90% funded by the Government and is designed to allow participants to complete it alongside full-time work.

The in-depth, high-quality curriculum will support participants to build capabilities in leadership, innovation, digital adoption, employee engagement, marketing, responsible business, and financial management.

Professor Blackburn added: “The Help to Grow programme provides the opportunity to tackle real-world issues, understand the technologies and approaches to do so, share experiences and learn from like-minded aspirational business owners.

“Our research has shown that joining such a programme is impactful, benefitting owner-managers and their enterprises through improved performance and growth.”

Interested applicants are encouraged to join one of the information events being run by the Management School, on September 30, and October 5 and 7.

The 12-week Help to Grow programme runs from October 2021 to March 2022.
