ACCA Academic Professional Partnership Programme

The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) is a global professional accounting body, based in the UK, with 198,000 qualified members. ACCA supports its members and students worldwide through partnerships with accountancy bodies and universities, allowing members to work internationally, complying with regulation in marketplaces worldwide.

The ACCA Academic Professional Partnership Programme (APPP) is designed for students who in addition to a Masters degree will sit ACCA Strategic Professional exams (i.e. the final level papers, for which exemptions are not available).

ACCA has recognised the MSc International Accounting programme under the APPP as qualifying in the preparation of students to sit ACCA Strategic Professional papers. Very few universities worldwide have achieved this level of recognition from ACCA.

MSc International Accounting

ACCA has reviewed our programme and confirmed to the University of Liverpool that our Pathway covers the following percentages to 80% or more of the ACCA syllabus:

Essentials:
Strategic Business Leader – 100%
Strategic Business Reporting – 100%

Options (two required):
Advanced Financial Management – 100%
Advanced Performance Management – 100%
Advanced Taxation – 100%
Advanced Audit and Assurance – 100%

Our MSc International Accounting has been designed from first principles to include modules aligned to these papers and we prepare qualifying students (those who enter the programme with passes or exemptions for papers F1-F9) to sit those papers, and cover the costs of entering students for the exams sat as part of the programme.

ICAEW

The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) is a professional membership organisation that develops and supports over 147,000 chartered accountants around the world. Through technical knowledge, skills and expertise, it provides insight and leadership to the global accountancy and finance profession.

ICAEW is our strategic partner on the MSc Accounting programme. Completion of the programme achieves exemptions from 5 (of 6) Certificate Level ICAEW papers (and we also prepare and enter students for the sixth paper, Law) and all 6 Professional Level papers.

As part of the programme we prepare eligible students (those that gain ICAEW credit for prior learning for all Semester 1 exams) to sit two ICAEW Advanced Level papers (for which exemptions are not available), which take place in July:
• Corporate Reporting
• Strategic Business Management.

Therefore on completion of the MSc Accounting programme, successful students can be fully ICAEW exam qualified, with the exception of the Case Study paper, which needs to be sat in the final year of the student’s training contract.
