MSc High Risk Operations and Governance

Please note this programme is subject to University approval.

The MSc in High Risk Operations and Governance is a new postgraduate course that has been specifically designed for military personnel, police officers, and graduates who are looking to work in complex and hazardous environments.

The course focuses on stabilisation in post conflict areas, with modules in the areas of conflict psychology, international relations, organisational behaviour and terrorism/insurgency. An increasing number of public and private organisations as well as NGOs are operating in fragile and conflict affected states. This course will enhance individuals' and organisations’ understanding of those environments and improve their ability to work effectively within them.

Programme structure

Due to operational demands, this MSc will be delivered as a number of short modules that are purchased one at a time. You will have up to 6 years in which to pass sufficient modules in order to receive the MSc (although other qualifications are available if the correct number of modules have not been passed).

As the course develops there will be a wide range of modules on offer so that the student can select the modules that are relevant for their career or interest them in order to build their own bespoke master’s.

All modules will be taught face to face in the University of Liverpool’s London campus in Finsbury Square as seminars over 3 working days with online support for 10 weeks afterwards.

For those students who meet the entry requirements there are four awards;

(1)    PG Award (30 Credits),

(2)    PG Certificate (60 Credits)

(3)    PG Diploma (120 Credits)

(4)    MSc (180 Credits).

In order to qualify for the MSc it will be necessary to pass the year long (off campus independent study) dissertation module which consists of a single research project done under the supervision of a member of staff.

Subjects will be taught by a range of experts from t‌he University of Liverpool as well as subject matter experts from organisations including Proelium Law and Robert Peel International.
