The Bio-Economy

The Marine Bio-Economy

Coastal resources are vital for global food security.  Some of the world’s most diverse, complex and productive ecosystems are in coastal areas. Aquaculture, fisheries, and marine bio-based industries are becoming increasingly important for enhancing food security, alleviating poverty and improving nutrition. This research theme focuses on sustainable primary production and processing systems: to produce more food and bio-products while reducing inputs and environmental impact.
