International opportunities
There are numerous opportunities for students in the School of Life Sciences to study or work abroad. These include international field trips, Study Abroad opportunities, and internships or placements as part of the integrated Masters programme (MBiolSci).
Field Trips
Field trips encourage the application of scientific techniques in the real world and are an option available to you as a student here in the School of Life Sciences. You can find out more here: Field courses
Study Abroad
There are a number of different options available if you would like to study abroad during your degree in the School of Life Sciences.
Semester Abroad
You will go on exchange for a semester in your second year. This option does not add any extra time to your degree and is credit bearing.
Year 2 at XJTLU
Students on certain Liverpool programmes can spend their 2nd year of study at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU). During Year Two @ XJTLU, students take courses (fully taught in English) closely linked to their curriculum at Liverpool. This option does not add any extra time to your degree and is credit bearing.
Year in China
The Year in China allows undergraduate students, the opportunity to spend one year at our joint venture, Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU), following XJTLU's BA China Studies degree classes. The Year in China will contribute 10% of your final degree mark when you graduate. Your degree will extend by one year if you participate in the Year in China, e.g. extending a 3 year programme to a 4 year programme or 4 year to a 5 year programme if the student is on the MBiolSci programme.
Summer abroad
Summer Abroad programmes are short term summer placements, either participating in a summer school or a research project. These programmes do not count towards your degree and add no extra time to your studies.
